GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Salinas City Council will vote Tuesday at 4 p.m. at the Rotunda on whether to reinstate rent stabilization and three other renter protection ordinances after a previous repeal was challenged. Only two council members from the 2024 vote remain — supporters say the delay may help tenants and landlords reach a compromise. Monterey Herald

- ➤ Tom Karwin said his garden surprised him today when his pineapple mountain flower, Ochagavia litoralis, bloomed for the first time since 2018—cooler summer weather may have triggered the rare bloom.
