- ➤ El Charrito, a popular Mexican restaurant, soft-opened its third Monterey County location on Friday at the Promenade at the Dunes in Marina (98 General Stilwell Dr., Suite 10) with an outdoor patio and order-ahead pickup area; it operates from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. as the team prepares for a grand opening soon. - ➤ Tahra Goraya, CEO of the Monterey Bay Economic Partnership, has been appointed to the California Forward board to help shape inclusive, resilient economic policy in the Monterey region. She will join efforts as the nonprofit rolls out draft recommendations for a sustainable new economy. Monterey Herald
- ➤ Rep. Panetta hosted a roundtable in Monterey on Thursday with business leaders to discuss how proposed offshore drilling leases near the Central Coast could affect the coastal economy & water supplies for agriculture. Leaders stressed the risks to tourism, recreation and jobs from new oil and gas activities. Monterey Herald
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Highway 1 fully reopened Friday at Regent’s Slide to reconnect traffic between Cambria and Carmel; however, one-way traffic control is in effect today (Saturday) as crews clear the northbound lane, delaying drivers up to 20 minutes. KSBW
- ➤ Caltrans set Highway 1 near Point Sur Lighthouse to one-way control for repairs over the next few weeks, causing five-minute delays as crews stabilize an embankment. Drivers should allow extra time+ work continues on a seven-mile stretch near Regent’s Slide+ updates will be provided. KSBW
