  • After leaving her Marina home in June due to mold, Diane Rodriguez found emergency housing through the Salvation Army's Frederiksen House program just before her sons started school. The program provided free shelter, job and budgeting assistance, which helped her secure permanent housing and reunite her family.  Monterey Herald
  • On Friday, the SPCA rescued an injured bald eagle in Salinas that suffered a broken coracoid & may have been electrocuted. The bird is now under care with a guarded prognosis.  KSBW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Residents in a Monterey neighborhood are frustrated as PG&E has delayed power restoration until Dec. 29, affecting holiday plans (with over 1,100 households impacted), while Carmel restaurants have reopened using generators.  KSBW

HEALTH NEWS

  • Power Over Parkinson’s is preparing to reopen an expanded exercise studio on Garden Road in Monterey after a fire forced it from its original space last year. The nonprofit offers classes like Rock Steady Boxing and support groups to help local community members manage Parkinson’s.  Monterey Herald
