- ➤ Monterey Peninsula hosts month-long holiday festivities including Winter Wonderfest at the County Fairgrounds and Christmas on the Wharf with live shows and a boat parade. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ State health officials warned against foraging wild mushrooms after 21 poisonings and one death were reported in Monterey and Bay areas; they said death caps — poisonous mushrooms that can cause severe liver damage — can be easily mistaken for safe varieties and urged buying mushrooms only from trusted sources. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ Cal State Monterey Bay’s men’s basketball team, the Otters, remains undefeated after an 82 to 75 win over San Marcos. The team is 7 to 1 this winter, leads the CCAA in three-pointers, and will host Chico State next Friday. Monterey Herald
