Residents in Salinas and Monterey can enjoy free holiday events starting tomorrow with a parade of lights on Main Street at 6 p.m. — on Dec 5, the Boronda Adobe will host a festive open house with food and music, followed by a lighted boat parade on Dec 7, Country Christmas at the Salinas Sports Complex on Dec 11, a YOSAL winter concert on Dec 12, and Christmas festivities at Martin Luther King Jr. Academy on Dec 13 and Dec 14.

The free Salinas Holiday Parade of Lights will start Sunday at 6 p.m. at South Main and Acacia and end near the City Center around 8 p.m. Local business owner Esteban Garcia, who has run the parade for ten years—this year featuring 85% children and strong local volunteer support—said the event is meant to kick off the holiday season.

A 3.4-magnitude earthquake shook near San Juan Bautista on Friday morning at 7:40 a.m.—two smaller quakes of 2.5 and 2.6 followed moments later with no damage or injuries reported.
