- ➤ Several nonprofits including the Salvation Army, American Legion Post 31, Victory Mission and Dorothy's Place will host Thanksgiving meal drives and community dinners in Salinas. The events offer free or low-cost meals with drive-thru service, home delivery and on-site options from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.—giving residents multiple ways to enjoy a hot holiday meal. Monterey Herald

- ➤ The city of Soledad is planning to build 734 affordable housing units by 2031—serving seniors, families, young professionals, and individuals experiencing homelessness. It has partnered with local agencies and launched projects for rental units on Gabilan Street and new homes for moderate-income buyers—and it aims to break ground within the next year. KSBW

- ➤ Final top 10 football rankings are out and Salinas football finished third—one loss did not define their season despite a third straight playoff defeat by a WCAL team. Palma led with an unbeaten season and Soquel came in second among the top CCS teams. Monterey Herald
- ➤ Soccer players gathered at the Salinas Regional Soccer Complex for open tryouts held by the San Jose Earthquakes' MLS Next Pro team, The Town FC—two 50-minute matches showcased their skills under Quakes legend Shea Salinas. Standout athletes will be invited to a combine in December—offering a future chance to join the main Earthquakes squad. KSBW
- ➤ Salinas native Del Rodgers, the longtime KCRA 3 Sports Director, announced his retirement after 28 years with the station and said his final high school football season aired Friday night. His final day is set for Dec. 1—Rodgers, a former NFL player and Super Bowl champion, has inspired many in our local sports community. KSBW
- ➤ The MLB Players Alumni Association hosted a free youth baseball clinic yesterday at Manzanita Park in Prunedale where 150 children learned baseball fundamentals from MLB legends + Salinas native Ernie Camacho. Camacho worked with Manuel Dorantes, a Palma High School alumnus now playing college baseball, as the clinic returned for the first time in eight years to Monterey County and plans to expand next year. - ➤ Mary Hooper earned All-American honors for MPC women's cross country — finishing eighth overall at the state championships with a 17-second personal record. Several athletes from MPC, Hartnell, and CSUMB received honorable mention for their performances. Monterey Herald
