- ➤ SPCA Monterey County is asking for donations of food and supplies this holiday season to help pet owners who struggle to feed their pets. The group has given out over 150,000 pounds of free pet food this year and serves more than 800 pets each week. KSBW

- ➤ Popular Salinas restaurants Bagel Corner and Pastability's opened their joint location in Marina on November 18 at 3134 Del Monte Boulevard—open Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. with a drive-thru and a menu that features about 70% of both restaurants' offerings. KSBW
- ➤ Today, Raising Cane’s opened its first Central Coast location near Northridge Mall in Salinas at 9 a.m. The celebration featured a Lucky 20 drawing that awarded free meals for a year, free hats and coupon cards with the first 100 combos, live music by local bands and dance troupes, and a donation check to local nonprofits — drawing fans who had camped for two days. - ➤ The Central Coast's largest Goodwill store and donation center is hosting its grand opening in Salinas on Friday with a ribbon cutting at 8:30 a.m.—doors open at 9 a.m. The event will have giveaways, kid-friendly activities from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.—the first 100 shoppers will get a reusable bag and coupon while plans for a career training center will be revealed later. - ➤ Portola Hotel & Spa in Monterey was named the county's first Ocean Friendly Hotel by the Surfrider Foundation—this honor recognizes properties with high environmental standards. - ➤ The California Department of Fish and Wildlife said on Nov. 17 that a new wolf pack—called the Grizzly pack and made up of two adults and one pup—has been found in southern Plumas County and has already preyed on cows. This brings the total number of wolf packs in the state to 10. KSBW

- ➤ Tax expert Barry Dolowich explains that long-term care insurance covers home health care and nursing services while offering tax breaks — premiums can be deducted if combined medical expenses exceed 7.5% of adjusted gross income. Keynote speaker Charles L.
