- ➤ The Food Bank for Monterey County in Salinas is preparing for a surge as SNAP food benefits expire today amid federal funding cuts — volunteers are packing food for roughly 160,000 people each month through 150 partner agencies. KAZU

- ➤ Councilman Andrew Sandoval toured the new Raising Cane’s set in the Northridge Mall parking lot where the restaurant will open on November 18. A DJ will start at 6:30 a.m. and 20 customers lining up at 7 a.m. will win free meals for a year—details of additional mall promotions were also shared. KSBW

- ➤ The Monterey and Salinas Valley Railroad Museum hosted a free open house on Friday and is welcoming visitors today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. next to the Amtrak station in Salinas—showcasing historic rail artifacts and a 140-foot model train diorama of the Salinas Valley. Monterey Herald
- ➤ Paper Wing Theatre in Cannery Row is hosting its annual Rocky Horror Show that marks 50 years of the famous movie by inviting the audience to join in the fun—fans dress up and join in callouts—and a midnight show is held today. - ➤ The North Monterey County Unified School District is planning to convert the closed Moss Landing Middle School site into workforce housing to help teachers and staff stay in the area. - ➤ The North Salinas Vikings played their first home game under the lights last night with new turf and upcoming bleachers—fulfilling a longtime promise after years of playing off campus at Rabobank Stadium. - ➤ Palma clinched the Gabilan Division title with a 28 to 21 win over Soquel at Rabobank, ending Soquel’s streak of 17 wins in division play as tailback Eli Dukes rushed for 235 yards and scored all four touchdowns.
