  • Breakthrough Men's Community is holding workshops that give men a safe place to open up and learn better communication skills. Workshop sessions available in-person or online with scholarships are open for pre-registration for 2026 — they help men build stronger relationships.  KSBW

CULTURE NEWS

  • A unique art exhibit—Art of Rehabilitation—is on display tonight at the Monterey County Administrative Building in Salinas and shows 125 painted heart canvases created by inmates at the Correctional Training Facility in Soledad through Halloween. The display is part of the Life on Art nonprofit program that helps inmates build hope and purpose through creative work.  KSBW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Monterey County will see CalFresh food benefits halted in November due to the federal shutdown—over 50,000 residents will temporarily lose food support. County officials urge families to submit required paperwork and use local food banks until benefits resume.  Monterey Herald
  • Monterey County District Attorney Jeanine Pacioni is in talks with county officials to convert an old juvenile detention center near Natividad Medical Center into a new nonprofit-led Family Justice Center in Salinas—designed to help address childhood trauma and prevent violence.
