- ➤ Monterey County celebrated Free Speech Week after the Board of Supervisors adopted a resolution on Oct. 21 and high school students will attend MisInfo Day on Oct. 24 to learn about media literacy. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Santa Rita Elementary School replaced its century-old Indian mascot with a new hummingbird mascot due to a state mandate passed last year. The board voted at a recent meeting after months of research by students and staff — and the new mascot will be officially unveiled in November. KSBW
- ➤ Local schools from Monterey Bay are competing to design robotics and AI tools to help farmers. Four schools will receive $20,000 grants for two years to join the Farm Robotics Academy—proposals are due Oct. 30. Monterey County Now
- ➤ Rancho Cielo, a school started over 25 years ago for young probationers by Judge John Phillips, has grown into a multi-building campus that offers programs from culinary arts to auto restoration—serving local youth and hosting a sold-out anniversary party on October 25.
