  • Monterey Bay Aquarium launched a limited-time fundraiser today to support its Sea Otter Program by reissuing a vintage T-shirt after Taylor Swift was seen wearing it in her album release movie—donations start at $65.13 and have exceeded $600,000 in the first hour while the campaign has also led the aquarium to invite Travis Kelce for a visit.  KSBW

  • Gov. Gavin Newsom announced that California will launch state-made insulin at the start of 2026—priced at $11 per injection pen in a five pack, made available through an agreement with Civica Rx and Biocon. The new biosimilar is part of the state’s ongoing effort to lower prescription drug costs.  KSBW

  • Today, Monterey Peninsula College (6-0) will play College of Sequoias (5-1) at 1 p.m. as the Lobos try to keep a 17-game win streak and avoid late-season slips; Hartnell will face Coalinga at 1 p.m. as the Panthers hope to end a nine-game losing streak after a historic loss.  Monterey Herald
  • Carmel high school rallied to beat Alisal 42-28—Maxon scored four touchdowns and Herro threw three in a comeback that showcased the team's strength.  Monterey Herald
  • Undefeated Palma will try to end its seven-game loss to Salinas today at Rabobank Stadium—both teams have worked hard in practice for this key Gabilan Division game. Palma’s fast offense, led by running back Eli Dukes, will face a Salinas defense that aims to limit big plays—coaches say smart planning is crucial.  Monterey Herald
  • Former Marina High defensive lineman Mikey Thomas earned playing time for Wayne State this fall by recording his first tackle and forcing a fumble in four games. The 6-foot-1, 318-pound junior was named to the All-California Community College Region II first team last year and received first-team honors at Marina High.  Monterey Herald
