  • California student test scores for the 2024-25 school year showed significant improvements in English language arts, math, and science with 70.6% of students meeting grade-level standards in ELA and fewer at minimal levels.   • The top 10 girls flag football rankings have been released with Alisal at 1, St. Francis at 2, and Salinas at 3 while Palma, King City, Watsonville, Aptos, Scotts Valley, Carmel, and North County fill the remaining spots. Teams on the bubble include Pacific Collegiate, Monterey, Santa Cruz, Pajaro Valley, and Hollister — offering a clear guide for local sports fans.  Monterey Herald
  • Former CSUMB pitcher Jared Koenig pitched in three playoff games for the Brewers against the Dodgers — earning a key role in the bullpen. He climbed from independent teams and was called up in 2024 — his fastball helped him in close games.  Monterey Herald
