- ➤ An immediate evacuation order for Zone MRY-G041-A has been issued in South Monterey County near the Salt/14-2 Fire, and residents in areas south and east of Parkfield/Coalinga Grade Road—north of Oak Street and east of Joaquin Canyon and Table Mountain—must leave now and follow emergency instructions. - ➤ The EPA announced that starting Sept 22, tens of thousands of damaged batteries from the January fire at Moss Landing will be trucked in two daily loads over 330 miles to American Battery Technology Company near Reno for recycling—ensuring safety after local evacuations. Monterey Herald

- ➤ Monterey Adult School’s Play and Learn program supports family learning by teaching parenting strategies, early childhood development and ESL skills to caregivers and children ages 0—4. The program runs Monday through Thursday from August—June and welcomes parents, grandparents, siblings and babysitters. KSBW

- ➤ A state-funded transitional housing project by HERS to help recently released prisoners in Monterey County was put on hold after neighbors raised concerns and made threats—plans to use a home on Berry Drive were canceled following a meeting with local officials. - ➤ Hawaii announced it will join California, Oregon, and Washington to form a new health alliance in response to federal actions that have affected vaccine access and scientific integrity—local experts warn that politicization in medicine may lead to vaccine shortages. The alliance aims to keep vaccines accessible without cost or restrictions following the June removal of all CDC advisory committee members. KSBW
