- ➤ Joby Aviation is moving ahead on its plan for air taxis at its expanded plant at Marina Municipal Airport where pilots train using a special simulator. The company said FAA tests will begin in early 2026 — a key step before it offers rides to the public. Monterey County Now
- ➤ Salinas officials approved Dave & Buster's in the old Sears at Northridge Mall amid safety concerns raised by property lawyers and local residents. Company lawyers and the police said enhanced security measures — including armed guards and surveillance cameras — will be in place as renovations continue. KSBW
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Police arrested 35-year-old Andrea Sandoval early Wednesday in Salinas after investigators linked her to the murder of 23-year-old Julian Diaz Sanchez, who died from a fatal fentanyl injection during a robbery in an Old Town alley on June 29. KSBW
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Monterey County Superintendent of Schools Deneen Guss announced her retirement after nearly 40 years in education—she will serve until January 2027 while overseeing 24 school districts and sharpening students' literacy, math and science. Guss also said she looks forward to spending more time with her three grandchildren. KSBW
