- ➤ Monterey Bay Aquarium is offering free tickets to local residents for visits any day from Tuesday to Sept. 14; eligible residents may reserve up to six tickets online with entry starting at noon on the reserved day. Residents aged 18 and older must show a photo ID and Monterey County residency proof (such as a government issued ID, utility bill, or student identification) on a first-come, first-served basis. ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A private aircraft from Salinas experienced a fuel leak shortly after taking off at 9:20 a.m. on August 31 and landed in Cachagua, injuring two people as a Cal Fire helicopter (responding quickly) extricated the occupants. KSBW
- ➤ One person died and five others were injured when a red pick-up truck and a silver SUV crashed head-on on Old Stage Road at Natividad Road on Sunday night in a suspected DUI incident—officers reported that the SUV driver died while passengers sustained serious injuries and the truck driver suffered minor injuries. - ➤ The Monterey County Fair closed early Saturday after fights were reported and police responded to a possible shooting and a man with a gun (reports unverified), though no injuries occurred and refunds were offered as it reopened Sunday. Monterey Herald
