Seaside hosted a high school football tour as a new league worked to reshape the local sport; the Spartans struggled with only 38 players while Nathaniel Bell, a three-year starter, led the team—highlighting the program's challenges.
Stevenson High football coach Kyle Cassamas said the team will move to Mission Division South this fall—despite 14 players opting out and leaving only 23 varsity players.
The Pirates will play 10 straight weeks and use their experienced seniors and strong offense to meet tougher competition.
