ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ The NTSB released a preliminary report on a July Beechcraft crash that killed three Monterey County locals, including Salinas’ 60-year-old Steve Clatterbuck, after the pilot attempted a precision instrument landing near Pacific Grove—witnesses reported low flight and unusual engine sounds before the plane plunged into the ocean. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ A Salinas man was sentenced to 55 years to life — with an additional 32 months — for a 2024 murder on August 22. Monterey Herald
- ➤ A man was arrested and is in Monterey County Jail after an alleged shooting led to two hit-and-run crashes on Highway 101 (near Laurel Drive and John Street) on Thursday night (around 7:18 p.m.) as officers recovered two firearms and booked him on charges including felony DUI, hit-and-run, and firearms-related offenses. - ➤ Chevy Chase, a legendary comedian, will start his tour in Monterey at the end of October. His shows will include screenings of National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation—followed by a moderated Q&A session for the audience. KSBW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Imjin Parkway project in Marina opened on Friday morning with roundabouts running one lane on each side to improve traffic safety—contractors continue work on bike lanes, art installations, and lighting as the roadway expands to four lanes by June. KSBW

- ➤ Data from Realtor.com shows that Monterey County home listings had a median price of $1,318,750 in July—a 1.4% drop from the previous month—with price per square foot rising 3.7% as homes stayed on market for a median of 56 days.
