ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ James Vincent, owner of Aquarius Dive Shop, Steve Clatterbuck from Salinas, and Jamie Lee Tabscott died when a twin engine plane crashed 400 yards off Point Pinos near Pacific Grove Saturday night after leaving San Carlos Airport just after 10 p.m.—the Coast Guard recovered the bodies after a search that ended Sunday morning. - ➤ On Monday morning, California Highway Patrol is investigating a deadly crash in Monterey County when a white Tesla traveling south on River Road veered off, hit a tree, and caught fire at 1:41 a.m.—the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. KSBW
- ➤ On Monday, a crane drove off the overpass near East Market Street past Merced when a driver on Highway 101 left the freeway and the crane landed on its side in the middle of the road (the crane has since been uprighted) while authorities treated the driver’s rib pain (he was taken to the hospital). - ➤ Monterey County Sheriff's Department officers arrested 79-year-old Donel Mark Geisen in Carmel after he called 911 admitting to killing his wife Barbara (her body showed multiple stab wounds) and later suffered self-inflicted injuries before being hospitalized. KION
- ➤ Salinas police are searching for missing juvenile Josiah Wilson, who has been in contact with family + friends but has not yet returned home and are asking anyone with information to call 831-758-7321. KSBW

- ➤ Rep. Jimmy Panetta and education leaders spoke on Monday at Seaside High School about the federal release of conditionally frozen education funds—Monterey County Office of Education has not yet received official notice on the exact amount or timing, and local officials warned that proposed 2026 cuts could further impact essential programs for students.
