  • California Rodeo Salinas’ Kiddie Kapers Parade will take place on July 13 at 3 p.m. in Salinas City Center and will encourage kids to dress up with an Old West twist under the 'Once Upon a Rodeo' theme. Grand Marshal 7-year-old Jaizel Mendoza—living with an inoperable chest tumor—is set to lead the event as the committee aims to bring joy to the community.  KSBW

  • Isabel Escorcia of Aki Fresh Mex in Marina received a $5 thousand resilience grant from the California Restaurant Foundation to help address staff shortages and fund expansion plans—this program has supported over 2,000 independent restaurants statewide since 2021.  KION

  • PG&E announced that it will offer financial help to eligible Central Coast customers for past-due energy bills through its Match My Payment and REACH programs—providing up to $1,000 or $300 in bill credits based on income. The company has set aside $50 million, and funds will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis until December 31.  KION

  • A WalletHub analysis found that Californians pay 5.84% of their household income on silver health plans in the marketplace—well below the nearly 20% seen in states like Vermont.
