- ➤ A shooting in a parking lot behind the Castroville Market on Merritt St. on June 26 at 8:56 p.m. left one person dead and one injured, and deputies are investigating the homicide while asking anyone with information to come forward (victim details are pending notification of next of kin). KSBW
- ➤ Lawrence Adams, a life-sentenced inmate, was convicted of first-degree murder after he stabbed 64-year-old Robert Tunstall more than 15 times with an inmate-made weapon on October 5th at Salinas Valley State Prison—Tunstall died within minutes—and Adams now faces life without parole. KSBW
