Officials said Tuesday that the whale carcass that washed ashore last week has drifted back into the water and that water activities remain not recommended at Lover’s Point Beach because of sharks (another juvenile humpback stranded near Sunset State Beach recently).
🏛️ Government
The Monterey County Coroner’s Office is asking the public to help locate Pedro Sousa Garcia’s family after the 53-year-old man died on May 7 and was last known to live here.
Officials want his family notified so they can make funeral arrangements (contact at (831) 755-3792).
🏥 Health
Salinas Valley Health's fifth annual diaper drive collected over 3,100 diapers for distribution via its mobile clinic in underserved areas - the drive coincided with Maternal Mental Health Awareness Month to help families facing tough choices between buying food or diapers.
