- ➤ KSBW 8’s Feeding Families telethon on Thursday, May 28 raised support for 558,423 meals — $186,141 was collected and 20,000 lbs of food donated by food banks to help local families facing hunger. Donations remain welcome to further support those in need. KSBW

- ➤ On Marilyn Monroe’s 100th birthday, Castroville recalled crowning the future star its first Artichoke Queen in 1948; the town will host the Artichoke Festival later this year to celebrate its artichoke history + Italian roots. KSBW

- ➤ The PCAL announced its all-league softball teams for four divisions (Gabilan, Mission, Cypress, Santa Lucia) with first and second teams and sportsmanship awards; local Salinas players were also recognized alongside standouts from around the region. Monterey Herald
