- ➤ Monterey County officials warn residents who bought grapevines or fruit trees at Costco in Salinas between April 21 and May 19 (period of concern) to isolate the plants and contact the agricultural office for an inspection as an invasive pest connected to a vineyard disease has been found. KSBW
- ➤ Agriculture officials reported finding the invasive glassy-winged sharpshooter on plants purchased at a Costco in northern California today—urging shoppers to inspect their new plants to help prevent further spread. KION
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The California Department of Public Health reported that a wild mushroom poisoning outbreak from November to May 22 caused 50 cases and four deaths in nine counties, including Monterey County. The agency urged locals to avoid picking or eating wild mushrooms (such as Death Caps and Western Destroying Angels) to prevent serious liver damage. KSBW
