- ➤ Pajaro residents finished a 22-hour Spanish-language CERT training over three Sundays in March to help during emergencies and assist Santa Cruz and Monterey counties—after surviving the 2023 floods. KION

- ➤ A 55-year-old Seaside woman was injured in a deputy-involved crash today in Salinas when an MCSO patrol car with its emergency lights on Blanco Road collided at the Davis and Blanco intersection with her Audi—causing her car to hit a pole—and both she and a deputy—who was driving the patrol vehicle—were taken to hospital as investigators work to determine the cause. - ➤ On May 5, the city announced a new street sweeping schedule – with 'no parking' signs for streets like Acosta Plaza, Montana Street, and Alma Avenue – which will be enforced after the grace period ends on July 31. - ➤ California Highway Patrol said it will begin a maximum enforcement period for Memorial Day weekend to target impaired drivers, reckless behavior, and those not buckling up. The crackdown runs from 6:01 p.m. on May 23 until 11:59 p.m. on May 26 after 42 fatalities and over 1,100 DUI arrests were recorded last Memorial Day weekend. KSBW
- ➤ Monterey-Salinas Transit will restart free trolley service this Memorial Day weekend, running daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. from May 24 to Labor Day for rides departing from Downtown Parking Garages on Tyler and Del Monte Avenue (serving Fisherman's Wharf, Cannery Row, Downtown Monterey, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium).
