🎭 Culture
Los Tigres del Norte will visit Salinas in June to receive Lifetime Recognition for their work supporting immigrant rights, announced Monterey County Supervisor Luis Alejo.
They will be honored on (June 10) by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors in a ceremony that marks decades of the band’s impact.
🏛️ Government
On May 13, the Salinas City Council voted 5-2 to repeal the ordinances that capped rent increases and required rental registration for eligible units—new council members said the policies were unsustainable as they did not account for rising landlord costs.
Council members added that ending these rules would not remove tenant protections since the state already provides them—highlighting the need to focus on creating more housing.
