Mayor Dennis Donohue said the city will ask the state attorney general to start a criminal case against the CFO accused of misusing Project Homekey funds—three local housing projects fell into default after the funds were diverted to lavish personal purchases.

Today through May 9, Salinas teachers can enjoy free meals and discounts on clothing and school supplies during Teacher Appreciation Week—businesses nationwide are offering special deals and prize opportunities to honor educators.

The week also highlights National Teachers Day on May 6 with additional events and promotions.

Monterey County installed three vending machines in Salinas that offer free Narcan and fentanyl test strips at busy sites, including one at the MST Transit Center on May 1.

Each machine held 200 naloxone doses and 50 test strips+more installations are planned if local agencies express interest.
