- ➤ Hephaestus Robotics, a team of 25 students from nine high schools, won the Monterey Bay regional competition at Watsonville High School Saturday and will head to the MATE ROV World Championship in St. John's, Newfoundland (Canada) in July to compete in the Ranger Class. KSBW
- ➤ La Joya Elementary School begins construction on a Therapeutic Intervention Program facility designed to support students facing emotional and behavioral challenges. The project in Bolsa Knolls will add four classrooms, a restroom, and a parking lot and is expected to finish by the end of the year. KSBW

- ➤ Boutonnet Farms in Castroville is battling a diamondback moth surge that is harming broccoli and cauliflower crops as rising pesticide resistance forces farmers to use more chemicals; Monterey County officials say that without California’s approval of a new tool used in 49 states, current methods are inadequate *a serious challenge*. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Salinas Valley Health’s mobile clinic now provides free childhood vaccines through the CDC’s VFC program and has administered nearly 400 doses to 150 children since approval last July.
