- ➤ Thirty-seven young women from Monterey County attended an all-girls firefighter camp in Marina this past weekend where they learned CPR, climbing a 100-foot ladder, and repelling down a building—boosting their confidence and sparking interest in a public safety career. KSBW
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The state Department of Pesticide Regulation launched the Spray Days program last month to alert residents 24 hours in advance when farmers will apply restricted material pesticides to nearby fields. Residents can sign up with their address & receive emails or texts and view a map showing the application areas to help plan their day. Monterey Herald

- ➤ The Monterey County Board of Supervisors meets today at 9 a.m. in the Government Center to consider AB 1014, a state bill that would let local leaders lower speed limits by up to 10 mph in high-risk areas — the proposal has backing from local groups and already passed a Committee hearing. - ➤ The Monterey County Sheriff's Office has added two specialized fentanyl detection dogs—K-9 Ben and K-9 Dexter—to its Classification Unit at the county jail to help prevent illegal drug smuggling and boost facility security. KSBW
