  • Chick-fil-A North Salinas announced a new location set to open in summer 2026 at 363 East Market Street + near El Pollo Loco, though it remains unconfirmed if this is the same site approved earlier by the community development department.  KSBW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Cal State Monterey Bay and Montage Health are partnering to launch the Montage Health Helen Baszucki School of Nursing, funded by a generous gift, to expand nursing programs and offer clinical placements *to train future health care professionals* on the Central Coast.  Monterey Herald

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • York School students (in their 10th year) returned from a robotics competition yesterday, where they built a robot with 3D-printed parts. Meanwhile, state lawmakers advanced a proposal banning federal immigration operations on state property, which passed its first committee review and now moves to further deliberation.  KAZU
  • Gov. Gavin Newsom issued a proclamation Friday that declared April 10 as Dolores Huerta Day on her 96th birthday. The proclamation honors her decades of work for worker rights in our region (she co-founded the National Farm Workers Association in 1962).  KSBW

SPORTS NEWS

  • Rhea Cosand returned to the field for UC Davis after missing last season, recording 16 goals + 20 assists. The Stevenson grad's strong comeback boosted the team's performance in a key contest.  Monterey Herald
