  • Mangia Eat on Main, a family-owned restaurant in downtown Salinas, is closing on Friday, April 10 due to rising food and labor costs after operating since November 2021 + owner Anna Altomare hopes the community will join for one last meal.  KSBW

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Monterey County Juvenile Hall's first 10-week Twinning Project cohort graduated on Monday in Salinas, where youths enhanced leadership and teamwork skills through soccer in partnership with the San Jose Earthquakes (mentored by coach Josue Sagado). The program prepares youths to resolve conflict and mentor others.  Monterey Herald

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Meteorologists say a Super El Niño may form late summer or early fall — warming Pacific temperatures exceeding averages could bring heavy rains and heat waves to our area. Experts warn that the rare event might shift regional weather patterns.  KSBW

  • Barry Dolowich (a Monterey-based CPA) advises taxpayers to keep checks, deeds, mortgages and other important documents permanently while saving duplicate deposit slips, insurance records and bank statements for five years, and he recommends shredding outdated records to prevent identity theft.  Monterey Herald
