- ➤ Pile driving for the Canyon Del Rey segment of the Fort Ord Regional Trail project is taking place in Del Rey Oaks until Wednesday, with work from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.—Carlton Drive will remain closed between Highway 218 and Work Avenue through April to allow safe construction. Monterey Herald
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Pacific Grove Middle School and Buena Vista Middle School near Spreckels were named 2026 California Distinguished Schools by state officials + they will be honored at an awards ceremony on April 24 in Anaheim. Monterey Herald
- ➤ Monterey County officials (board members) are considering dissolving three districts to form two unified school districts, with public hearings in Greenfield and King City. Input will shape a plan to be recommended to the state board and may be voted on with changes in effect by March 2028. KSBW
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Marina Coast Water District is set to restart a 30-year-old desalination plant in Marina, providing 300-acre-feet of water next year to support about 1,000 homes. The project aims to boost drought resistance while reducing groundwater pumping for future growth. KSBW
