- ➤ Community Human Services and Gathering for Women hosted Souper Saturday on Feb. 9 to benefit two local homeless shelters serving women and families; nearly 200 bowls of clam chowder from Old Fisherman’s Grotto and Fish Hopper raised funds for shelter operations and case management services. - ➤ Miranda Lambert will headline the Big Week Kick Off Concert on July 11 at Salinas Sports Complex as part of the California Rodeo Salinas scheduled from July 16-19. Dylan Scott will open and tickets will sell Thursday at 10 a.m. from $60-$100. Monterey Herald
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Salinas and surrounding areas will experience rain and thunderstorms starting Tuesday and lasting through early Thursday with gusty winds and possible hail. The Santa Lucias region has a 75% chance of receiving at least 1.50 inches of rain (winds may gust up to 40 mph in high terrain). KSBW
- ➤ After a month of warm weather, multiple storms will bring widespread rain to Salinas this February. The first showers are expected to start today along the coast — with rain spreading inland by Tuesday to Wednesday and easing Thursday-Friday. KSBW
