- ➤ Jim Gattis has been named executive director of the Salinas Airshow Board and will lead the 45th airshow on Sept. 26 and 27, 2026; a press conference (9:30 to 11 a.m.) at the Salinas Municipal Airport next Wednesday will introduce him and honor his ICAS Hall of Fame induction. KSBW

- ➤ Monterey County had a 9.1% unemployment rate in December with 19,500 out of 214,700 workers unemployed—marking its worst month since 2021 and a rise from a 6.7% rate in November and a 5.4% low in September. KSBW

- ➤ Salinas hosted a community meeting Thursday to explain rental rights to renters and landlords. Administrative aide Aquontis Garlington clarified the differences between state law AB 1482 and local rental ordinances. Monterey Herald
